Product detailed description

The publication Anatomy of a leap into the Void presents artworks and realisations that we are created as a reaction to the violent suppression of the Prague Spring by the troops of The Warshaw Pact in 1968 and to the subsequent period that was plagued by both efforts to maintain an open civil society and to lead it back into subordination to the Communist Party and the Soviet Union. The works of art that were created were marked by both the invasion and the death of Jan Palach and Jan Zajic. This publication is focused on the years 1966 to 1973 in which it is clear to see how domestic art emancipated itself and began to participate in the internationl structures of the art scene. It responds to or anticipates all important themes and approaches - new geometry, new figuration, conceptual art and the art of action. The most famous authors of this period are represented, such as Vaclav Boštik, Stanislav Kolíbal, Jiři Kolař, Adriena Šimotová and Slovak artists Jozef Jankovič and Július Koller. Futher contributed authors from the region, Miroslav Snajdr, Eduard Ovčaček, Stanislav Bukovsky and others.
