Screenwriter Jonas Crane hopes to escape impending burnout in a lonely house on the Yorkshire moors. He is accompanied by his wife and their young son. At the same time a certain dangerous criminal on the run from the police is looking for a safe hiding place: Denis Shove is suspected of brutally murdering police officer Richard Linville. Kate Linvill, daughter of the victim and an investigator from Scotland Yard, lost the only person in her life with whom she had an emotional connection - her father. She tries to solve the crime on her own. In the process, she discovers that her beloved father was not the man she thought he was. She tracks down the dramatic truth - and has no idea that the Cran family has already begun a race against the time.
